Robert Casteline, Assistant Pastor
Robert Casteline is a son of Central Baptist Church, having accepted Christ here in the late ‘90s. Originally from Boston, MA, Robert came to NYC to pursue a career in the theatre after attending Hofstra University. God, however, seems to have had some other plans.
After becoming a follower of Jesus, Robert had a number of questions about what being a Christian really meant. Thus began a passion for apologetics and theology. After taking the URBACAD course at CBC, Robert went to Denver Seminary to pursue greater learning. He earned an M.Div. with a Theology concentration in 2010. Yet, the experience at Denver Seminary went beyond the classroom and Robert found as much growth in the community that he was a part of as the classes he attended.
Returning to New York in 2011, Robert continued to work at UPS and as a waiter, work which he had begun in Denver. An opportunity for part-time work at CBC allowed Robert to leave those jobs in the beginning of 2013. He currently guides a variety of groups and ministries. (You could call him a “kitchen sink” pastor!) He was ordained in February of 2012.
Robert takes great joy in talking about the things of God and theology. It is his passion to make sure that everyone knows not just what the Truth is, but why that Truth is reasonable and good. He also enjoys playing computer games (like Mass Effect and Civilization) and watching show like “The Middle” and “The Walking Dead.” Feel free to contact him for a cup o' joe and a conversation.
He and his wife, Kimberly, have three children: two sons (Robert Joseph and Jared) and a daughter (Amber).
